Mariana's sermon notes 15.8.21
Great love overcomes. . . everything!
Think how much the Father loves us. He loves us so much that he lets us be called his children, as we truly are. 1 John 3:1
Characteristics of Love -God's love towards us
God loves because He is love. 1 John 4:8 God is love
God's demonstration - I John 4:9,10 This is how God showed his love for us: God sent his only Son into the world so we might live through him. This is the kind of love we are talking about—not that we once upon a time loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to clear away our sins and the damage they’ve done to our relationship with God.
We were the worst Criminal. The judge was about to bang the gavel and we would be sentenced to death. Then God walked in with his son Jesus. God said, "Son it will cost you your life, you will suffer in their place but we will get this one. That one." Jesus pointed at you and said, " I'll do it! If I get her and him, Yeah I will do it!"
Romans 5:8 But God proves His own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us!
You might feel Unlovable, invaluable, guilty, lacking, ugly, unworthy, no one likes me
These are Vain imaginations. Worry, doubt, fear, anything contra-against love, logic, my own ideas, my ingenuity and resourcefulness or conniving
2 Corinthians 10:5,6 We (as believers) are destroying sophisticated arguments and every exalted and proud thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought and purpose captive to the obedience of Christ, Being in readiness to punish every [insubordinate for his] disobedience, when your own submission and obedience [as a church] are fully secured and complete.
Demon running thru with a sign, FEAR or SHAME to point away from God and God's love. We take the demon with the sign captive and make them submit to God.
The big NON-SECRET of God's love
John 17:23 I(Jesus) am in them (believers)and You (Father)are in Me.(Jesus)
May they (family of believers) be made completely one, so the world may know You (Father)have sent Me(Jesus) and [You (Father)] have loved them (believers) as You (Father) have loved Me.(Jesus)
If you say, "I can't see God's love. I can't feel it. Let it grab your attention. HOW?
Look around the room, focus on the colour Blue. See it? Why not before?
Green-making money to be comfortable - Yellow-relationships White-wall flower hide, had enough problems. Blue is like God's love. It is here in the room but we can focus on other things instead. Find the blue, find the love of God.
Love is here.
Romans 5:5 This hope will not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
I become what I focus on.
We who have uncovered faces, are looking as in a mirror at the glory of the Lord and are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory; this is from the Lord who is the Spirit. 2 Corinthians 3:18
Focus on the God's love, we die to our old self-preservation nature. And then we can come to God with our life. He's the Boss of me. When we are hurt, what did you do Jesus when they hurt you? Betrayed you. Lied, stole, sold you off, beat you, yelled.
I forgave because they didn't know what they were doing.
First- What do you do, focus on Blue! Focus on Love!
Psalm 17:15 As for me, I will behold Your face in righteousness; when I awake, I will be satisfied in Your presence.
Also discipline is love
Hebrews 12:5 You have forgotten the divine word of encouragement which is addressed to you as sons and daughters, The Lord corrects the people he loves and disciplines those he calls his own.
Great News! Finish here
Romans 8:35-39 Who can separate us from the love of Christ? Can affliction or anguish or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: Because of You we are being put to death all day long; we are counted as sheep to be slaughtered. No, in all these things we are more than victorious through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that not even death or life, angels or rulers, things present or things to come, hostile powers, height or depth, or any other created thing will have the power to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord!
I invite you to pray with me: Lord, I am sorry for focusing on wrong things, on vain imaginations, making them more important than you. I surrender my will, wisdom and ideas to you and take you as my Lord and Saviour. You are the Boss. Help me to focus on Love and on Jesus. Show me how to listen and obey you. In Jesus name, Amen
This is the starting line. You are standing and facing the correct way. Now you begin.
What do you do, focus on blue? focus on God's love.
Philippians 3:13-14 No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: I forget how I failed in the past and looking forward to what lies ahead.
Whatever you have done before right now! Is past. Accept forgiveness and move forward to what lies ahead.
